Pups on Vacay

While we were working on the floors my in-laws offered to let our dogs stay at the farm. An offer we could not refuse :)  Although I am sure there were plenty of treats - grandmas have a way of spoiling their fur-grandbabies - bacon and eggs for breakfast and ice cream breaks in the afternoon. It appears Millie worked off all the extra treats!
Millie spent lots of time getting in touch with her inner Lab (I suspect there is a little Lab in that not-quite-Rottweiler pup). She loved, loved, loved retrieving sticks from the pond.
Guess which stroke she prefers :)  Same one as me - I taught her everything she knows.
 Where'd it go??
 Love her tail rudder.

There was quite a struggle over this stick. I think my husband was about to jump in to rescue Millie. Happy (the lab) got the upper hand or should I say mouth and seemed to be pulling Millie down.
Thankfully the stick broke and they were both happy to bring back their own stick.

When we went around to the other side of the pond it was a hot algae mess. But that didn't make one bit of difference to those crazy dogs....must. get. stick.

Millie seemed pretty proud of her green self.
Zommie pretty much stayed around the kitchen waiting for treats. My MIL said she spent quite a bit of time trying to hide her dog biscuits, but finally gave up and ate them. She seems to be doing fine without all those teeth she had pulled - gums of steel!
There was plenty of lazing around on the porch. Duke is the cat on the chair. He is apparently in charge of everyone, except Zommie. My MIL said Zommie is the only one she has seen Duke back away from.
 Did someone say ice cream?

The girls had a wonderful time at the farm and it helped us greatly to not have them underfoot while laying the flooring.  We are so thankful.

My husband picked the dogs up this afternoon. First was a bath - with lots of soap (see algae fest above). Then we took them to get mani-pedis - okay, it was just to the vet to get their nails trimmed. They were both good and we learned some moves we will try if we trim Millie's nails ourselves next time. Then we stopped at Petco for a new collar for Millie (her pink one could not be rescued from the pond smell). Both dogs were very well behaved in the store. Even when my husband got distracted and dropped her leash - Millie was just casually strolling to the next aisle :)

And since we have been home....

Zommie in the bed my MIL send home for her.
And Millie in our bed, of course!
It is a rough doggie life!

    1. They did - I worry they are a little depressed about being home in the "boring zone." On the bright side - it doesn't motivate me to get back to walking Millie - now I just have to get out of bed :)

    1. Green slime is NOT my thing - but more power to them :)
