Homebound

I have been busy studying my Cooking Light magazine, but have yet to make anything from it yet. I am super intrigued by this Egg Ravioli. It will happen as soon as I decide what to serve with it.
We had a stay at home weekend. My nephew had his wrestling sectionals, but they were two hours away so I didn't go :(  But he placed 2nd and is going to State this weekend!!!  My poor husband was nursing a severe toothache - scheduled to be pulled on Monday.

I had a pretty lofty goal for Saturday morning. I was nervously waiting to hear how my nephew was doing at his wrestling meet. I decided to use some of that nervous energy to tame my craft room. It got a bit out of control with all the holiday stuff.
A couple hours later - also fueled by Netflix - the room looked much better.
Once it was cleaned up I was much more inspired to do some sewing. I have several projects that I need to finish before I start anything new.
We had Valentine brunch at my sister's house. Biscuits and gravy with a Valentine twist is a tradition. And yes, the color is accurate :)
I made some rice krispie treat hearts to take. We got this platter as a wedding gift - it is a little hard to see in the picture, but it is etched with the wood grain of a tree and then at heart with A + G is carved into it. And I just remembered I left the platter at my sister's house - please help me remember to get it next time I am there :)
For dinner I made homemade pizza. I love Super Mixer's dough hook...I only did a little kneading after the rising process.
I made an attempt at a heart for my husband's pizza. I need a little more practice.
However, he ended up putting his toppings on the other crust. Yes, those are giant jalapeno slices you see...plus onion, peppers, green olives, pineapple and (close your ears eyes Meg - cilantro). Pepperoni on top after the cheese.
My pizza was covered in a layer of mushrooms (yum), peppers, onions, pineapple. I topped it with some leftover basil/tomato chicken sausage (and part with pepperoni). I do love being able to top our pizzas with what we each like - no compromise required!
I had to share this top I saw on Valentine clearance.... I am not even sure where to go with that.
Even on Valentine's Day....sometimes things come between us....
My husband has been suffering with the pain of a broken wisdom tooth. The pain finally became greater than his dislike of dentists. Our previous dentist passed away awhile ago and we hadn't found a new one yet. I did the Facebook referral request and I think we found a good one.  I loved the openness of the office and the view from the chair is out a huge window.
My poor patient tucked away in bed. The Millennium Falcon was a bit of an extravagant Valentine's gift, so I am saying it is partially to ease the dentist trauma :)
While my husband rested, I kept myself busy with sewing.  I think I started this quilt when my husband and I were still engaged. I had quite a few rows of the quilt finished so I decided to sew all the finished rows together.
Rows 1-17 have been sewn together for a long time...I can't even venture a guess. I finished sewing together rows 18-32 this weekend.
Then I attached those two pieces together. The red/white/blue has been my color scheme for several quilts. In other quilts I have used more denim, but this one I am just using it on the border. I was surprised how dominate the red is in this particular quilt.  This quilt will be made up of about 1800 3 inch squares when finished.
I am challenging myself to finish this quilt top by the end of February.  I have 10 printed fabric rows two rows of denim for top/bottom border to finish making and then sewing together. I am starting to wonder if I am making it too big. You can read a little more about my quilts here.

Finally it looks like it is time for my husband to get back to work. His broken wisdom tooth crisis has been resolved and his new Millennium Falcon is complete.
And it is time for me to get back on track. I have been slacking since the Super Bowl. I am working up a little challenge for myself that I will talk about next post.

  2. Wow!! Your quilt is just beautiful! I need to clean my computer room. It is a disaster area. Seeing your room nice and clean is giving me incentive to clean mine! :)

    1. Thanks - those specialized rooms always seem to end up being catch-alls. Nobody likes to have to clean a space before doing something fun :)

  3. I love your craft room! So glad your husband had his tooth taken care of and that it wasn't as bad as he thought. I hate the dentist almost as much as I hate cilantro. ;)
Even with that foul stuff on it, the pizzas looked good!
