Wednesday Weigh-in Returns

I am just going to rip off the band-aid and deal with the weigh-in portion of the post first thing.  My last official weigh-in was on October 28 - a few days later I found out I was pregnant.  I later miscarried   As of December 1st, I am up 13.2 pounds. Ugh!  I am trying very hard to be kind to myself.  After the physical and emotional wringer my body and mind have been through, the last thing I need is a big dose of self condemnation.  Of course, I want to stop the gain and get back to my low as quickly as possible, so I must pull myself together.

I will just say it.  I am proud of myself this morning.  I got myself out of bed and out into the cold dark morning for a two mile walk :)  I would like to say it is because I am super committed to my exercise regimen.  To be honest I was eager to see Christmas lights. I was hopeful that some people would have left their lights on overnight so I could enjoy them this morning.  Turns out that in nearly 1.5 miles of my walk (not including the half mile I walk twice), twelve people did.  I would estimate I passed at least 200 houses.

Here it is the beginning of the month again and I have been thinking how I want to challenge myself in December.  It isn't much, but here is what I have on my agenda.

1. No fast food.  December is a busy month and it is so easy to just pick up lunch/dinner. But if I stop and think about it, I would rather spend the extra calories for specific seasonal treats, parties and holiday meals. I need to stay on top of meal prep for this to happen. I will be honest, I don't want to head into December planning to be super strict on my eating.  I know that is not realistic. I am working on balance between the season's goodies and keeping my weight in check.

2. Walking...lots of walking.  I know I should have a more measurable goal, but I am just not there. I am doing the best I can. I am working on getting myself back in the morning walking routine.  It is what works best for me.  I am a morning person - if it doesn't get done early it is unlikely to get done.  If I can fit in exercise later in the day (i.e. lunch hour walk) it will be bonus.  If the weather is bad, I have a DVD I can do instead.

3. 15 Minute House Dash - Every evening I plan to set the timer and spend 15 minutes straightening up and preparing for the next day.  There several areas in my house that need extra attention. We have done some room rearranging and I need to reorganize and purge some things to make it all work.  If I can save my morning energy for these new tasks, instead of doing dishes, folding laundry, etc. December will be much more productive.

I am trying to redirect my focus today, but I just can't pretend today isn't hard. We were supposed to have our first ultrasound appointment this morning. Not that I would have forgotten the date, but it didn't help when the doctor's office called to remind me of the appointment. It was supposed to be a day filled with joy and amazement at the our little one growing. As it turns out, today is not that day...and it hurts.

  1. I wouldn't focus on what the scale says for a while. You've been through a lot in such a short period of time. Just use it to see where you're going from here. Focus on finding yourself again.

  2. Aww sweetie. That's tough that the Doc office called for that appointment. Surely they could have caught that. I'm so sorry. I'm proud of you though. You are taking strides in the right direction!

    1. Thank you! I am sure it is just a busy office and the girl did feel bad when I told her.

  3. Sorry about the phone call, yes, they should have noticed your file.

I think the House Dash is a great idea! I do it everynight, but my OCD gets away from me and it always turns into a mini-project at 10pm...everydangday.ha!

Love the house dash idea. Something I could put to use as well.

  5. So sorry for your loss <3

I think it's great that you're setting goals (reasonable ones as well). I love the house dash! That's great! I'm gong to have to do that one.

  6. Alright, back to the walking and the logging. I like the no fast food. I am terrible at that. I love fast food which is awful but hey, we all have our vices. All very attainable goals.

    Yay for Christmas lights!
