Millie's Story

Since we got married in 2011, my husband and I have been talking about getting a puppy someday. One day our niece was visiting and she decided we needed help moving from talking to action.  She googled where to buy puppies.  She found a litter of puppies for adoption at a humane society in Waynesville, MO - about 2.5 hours away.  We feel in love with the pictures online.  In October 2013, this sweet little puppy face became a part of our family.

Who could resist that puppy face??
The makeshift memorial at the site where the
car was swept away.  Still brings tears to my eyes.

Our joy in finding Millie was tempered by the tragedy that brought her to the humane society.  The owner of Millie's mother and the litter of 7 puppies died when her car was swept away by terrible flooding.  The lives of the young mother and her 4 year old son were lost.

A wonderful foster family took in the seven 10-day old puppies and their mother.  I can not say enough about what a loving start this family gave the puppies. Eventually homes were found for all.  We were thrilled to be chosen as Millie's forever home.

Millie has added a whole new dimension to our lives.  We got her in the fall and we loved taking her places.

Okay, we didn't like taking her, but she was a good girl.
