Chilly Walking

My main goal Sunday morning was just to just get outside and talk a walk.  I didn't care how fast.  For me, it was strictly about mental health, not physical health. Of course, I know it was both, but I wasn't telling myself that on Sunday. I ended up walking a 2.79 miles. I know I said I didn't care how fast, but I wore my Garmin watch to measure distance and I wasn't surprised to see I walked close to 20 minute miles. I stopped to take a ton of pictures - mostly of Christmas decorations.  I will be sharing some in a future post.

It was 30 degrees.  Thankfully, it was not windy so once I was walking it didn't feel bad at all. This picture doesn't quite do them justice, but the leaves on the ground had the most beautiful frosty edges.
There must be a semi-truck driver living in our neighborhood. I have seen this tractor several times...never with a trailer though.  This morning the truck was plugged in.  Those diesel engines need their pampering.
Looks like it was cold enough to freeze off someone's antler.  I think this is one of those antlers you can get for your car.  Okay, I confess I know it is because I have them for my car.  Although my car is not currently wearing them. He hasn't quite caught the holiday spirit yet.

When I saw this cool camper I couldn't help spending the next few blocks doing a little vacation fantasizing.  In general, I prefer cooler climates, but I was definitely thinking warm.

And being on this street seemed to feed the fantasy.

When I passed my sister's house she was out getting her paper so I stopped and chatted with her for a few minutes. She reported she did 55 minutes on the elliptical the night before - way to go!!  I probably shouldn't mention she was still wearing her workout clothes that she had fallen asleep in :)  While I was there I snapped a few pictures of her pets. This is Moose - a Great Dane/Lab mix.  He didn't really want me to take his picture and kept looking away.

JoJo on the other hand seemed to be ready for her closeup...her extreme close up.

I was happy and proud of myself after the walk. However, it was nice to get home and warm up. I couldn't resist these toe socks at the dollar store. I am not sure what I was thinking.  I even had to have my husband help me put them on. I was having a terrible time separating toes into their proper spots. Then the whole time I was wearing them I expected Big Bird to call and ask for his feet back.

My husband ran 5.5 miles.  He hasn't done as much running lately.  I was so proud of him. He deserved a little Sunday napping. Millie didn't run or walk, but she did help him nap :)
I am looking forward to getting back into a regular walking routine. It can be so hard to get myself out there, but I NEVER regret it.

  1. Kudos to you for getting out in the cold. I've been such a baby about it, but really need to get back in the groove. Stupid winter and stupid life events causeing terrible funks. Can it be 2015 yet?

    1. Thanks! I am much more a baby than I used to be...sometimes, I can't believe I actually survived growing up in Canada. I absolutely agree - I am ready for a new year!
