Picture Packed Weekend

It was a busy weekend with gorgeous weather. I didn't do much other than enjoy it. I hope you enjoy my pictorial review of a wonderful weekend.

Fall has come to the farmer's market

We had the absolute best weather for relaxing at the farm on Saturday.
These mushrooms have popped up all over my in-laws yard. My fungus hating husband enjoyed crushing them, until I mentioned he was getting mushroom guts all over his shoes.
 Such sweet little barn kitties.

On the outside looking in - someone was feeling a bit left out.
Still on the outside looking in...she just wanted to play with the kitties too.
My MIL has decorated the barn with all sorts of fun pictures and signs.
My husband's grandfather was a blacksmith. They had this saw painted honoring his job.
Even the cat bowls are adorable.
Zommie tried on a new sweater my MIL picked up at a yard sale...I am not so sure how she felt about it.
My in-laws make these fun bird houses. They have a little shed they display/store them in. The sell them at various consignment stores and craft fairs.

When we got home from the farm I still had to get in my 30 minutes of exercise. At that point, I was just ready to be home and didn't want to head out for a walk. I called my sister to see if she was available, but she couldn't go. I, somewhat grumpily, set out to walk. About two blocks from the house I heard feet pounding the pavement behind me. I turned to see my sweet husband running to catch up.
We ended up pretty much strolling, but I am totally counting it for my streak because I made myself go when I really didn't want to go. And that is victory. Not to mention it I got an awesome reminder of how much my husband loves me :)
Speaking of how much my husband loves me. Before breakfast on Sunday he took me to see the water birds so I could take pictures. My friend, my niece and I had seen a bunch of them (maybe a couple hundred) Saturday morning on the way to the farmers' market, but I was cameraless :(
There weren't nearly as many and they were a little far away, but I took a ton of pictures anyway :)

After breakfast we had to stop at Walmart for a couple of things. We saw the craziest thing in the parking lot!!

And I made a new friend!
The highlight of the trip was when my husband pointed out that my chicken cost more than his new lightsaber.
Yes, but does it cut chicken?
We had a great afternoon hanging out my sister, niece and nephew. We watched football and played cards. When they left I dashed out to get in my walk. The shadows were wacky - reminded me of a carnival mirror.
These dogs ran out into the road to see Millie. I was less than amused when I noticed the owner standing up by the garage doing nothing to control his dogs.

And finally proof that exercise pays - even when the scale doesn't show it. I found a quarter!!

I am ending with an unscientific Losing My Puppy survey:  Is it bad/wrong to walk your dog at 5 a.m.? I wouldn't mind having Millie with me in the morning, but it stirs up the neighborhood dogs a little more than when I walk alone. I don't want to be rude, but I also feel like it isn't totally my fault if people leave their dogs out and they bark and things. What are your thoughts?

  1. Great weekend indeed! I love that you earned money on your walk! :)

I have no qualms about walking Ollie with me in the morning (when I actually do). For one, I feel much safer with him even though he is a wee bitty thing. Just knowing he is there is comforting rather than heading out on my own. If the owner left their pets out over night, it's their problem and they will be the ones who get woken up since you are already out there! :) Just my .02.

    1. I feel slightly guilty about the innocent neighbors, but at least they will be mad at the one who left their dog out unattended, right?

  2. Looks like you had an amazing weekend! I totally agree with Desiree, if pets are left out then the owner should expect some barking at anything...it's their problem :)

  3. Your story about your husband gave me awesome warm fuzzies :)

And I always take the dogs with me on walks and runs. If other dogs bark, it's not your problem. Plus, I always just feel safer even though I have never walked or run anywhere unsafe.

    1. It was super sweet of him and melted my heart :) My neighborhood is safe too, but sometimes I wouldn't mind a little back up.

  4. Oh man, I love that your husband went for a walk with you. That makes me super happy. Love how in love you two are!

As for the dogs thing, if my dog wasn't older I would absolutely run with her. I see dogs being walked all the time when I am out early in the morning. If you've got your dog out that early then the owner is HOPEFULLY awake and can wrangle the beast if they make too much noise. I would absolutely take her with you!

    1. It was a great surprise to hear his feet pounding behind me :) I don't really feel badly for the dog owner but a little bit guilty about the innocent neighbors.
